But judaism’s laws are utter bullsh** obviously.

Any religion which states that homosexuality is against its laws should not be trusted.

Any religion which takes a badly written work of fiction and pretend that it is the word of ‘god’ should be distrusted.

Yes it is. Gay sex and gay marriage are most probably against Judaism’s laws. If the Rabbis are stating that it is against Judaism’s laws but that gay people should be treated with equality in the secular realm and with dignity by other Jews who should treat them no less favourably on account of their breach of the Jewish laws then that is live and let live.

And we should all welcome that.

They played a significant role in the black civil rights movement, and now they arre leading the way when it comes to promoting the civil rights of gay and lesbian people. For instance, almost 80% of Jews in California voted against Proposition 8 that took away the right of gay and lesbian people to marry.

But these rabbis preach that gay sex and gay marriage are against judaism’s laws. That’s not a ‘live and let live’ attitude.

It’s the same bigotted ‘Love the sinner, hate the sin’ bulls*** you get from the Vatic**t.

Secondly these guys are not in a position to be lecturing anyone about human sexuality.

Human sexuality is an intrinsic part of someone’s personality. These guys are religious. That’s their prerogative. But they are not experts on human sexuality, and their opinions on matters of human sexuality are merely that – opinions.

So, on the 1 hand they say that gay people deserve respect, but on the other hand preach that being gay is wrong, then quite frankly I would prefer they keep their superstitious opinions to themselves.

On the real issue, I tend to agree that it is love the sinner etc. Maybe it is a start, but a slow and tiny one. For sure not enough. Worth remembering that this is the orthodox end of the faith. The liberal end is generally entirely accepting and supportive, which is more than can be said for many other religeons.

Alternatively, live and let live for which we should all give thanks. It is enough for people to show grace, manners and kindliness towards those with whom they disagree. The wheels of social acceptance in this way turn slowly but decisively.

What qualifications (other than a belief in a mythical ‘god’) does he have to speak on matters relating to human sexuality?

The headline of this story says that rabbis had signed a declaration of ‘acceptance’.

They haven’t.

They’ve simply toned down their hatespeech slightly.
