But I think you're wrong, at least in Brighton's case, I think that in this case, it's merely that the present incumbents aren't really up to the job. That and the fact that I believe that with all the new parade restrictions they are trying to squeeze out all the voluntary organisations. People aren't so inclined to turn up if they can't see something which has some significance to them, that's a loss of revenue. It doesn't help that the council, now under tory control has cancelled a load of grants, Brighton Pride being one of them. Poor weather and the recession were also a factor. They spend too much time squabbling and in-fighting. Virtually every gay demo / pride / get-together seems to end up with them financially broke, and divided into two or more camps. If they can't make a financially viable event, then either leave it to the straights who can, or dump the whole damned idea. Incidentally, I've also noticed gay men want everything for nothing and are as tight as a duck's arse when it comes to putting their hands in their pockets.
